But then again I suppose you have to be upbeat when reporting on Australian Fashion Week or else you might be labeled as not being fabulous.

In a story titled "Hermaphrodite bunyip storms Fashion Week", Edwina McCann and Georgina Safe gush about a new fashion label called 'Romance was Born' and their entertaining contribution to an otherwise "flat week for Australian fashion."

The star attractions were "the use of light bulbs as accessories and the model dressed as a hermaphrodite bunyip" as well as a "bunny suit in pink terry toweling, with carrots dangling off a necklace."

I've always known the runway to be a rather ludicrous place - but this is something else.

The article, in it's ever-so optimistic tone, finishes with this corker of a paragraph:

"Traditionally, a bridal gown closes a runway show. These designers dressed a bride as a wedding cake, put a bra on the groom's head and a child in the middle with a little cupcake hat. They [the designers] articulated hope for the future, and Australian fashion."

Well colour me pink and call me a hermaphrodite bunyip. I'm sold.

Fillet

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-05-09T04:40:01Z</dcterms:modified>

If I Post This in Five Minutes it'll be a Record!

Five out of five! Woo! But I won't, becuase I was watching JTV that's why. Inaugural episode doncha know? Also, if I make five out of five, why don't I just make it six out of six? And then why not seven out of seven? No. Then where would it end? It must stop now, at four. It's still a record and it is sufficient for me.

So, I refer everyone to my previous entry and the comment I made there showing my good friend Tom to be the scoundral he really is. Silly Tom. But because I am such a gracious person I will still give you the chocolate I promised you. But that's not all I said in that comment, about printing shirts...

Who wants to start a fashion label with me? It'll be so much fun. See, I'm not nearly as visually creative enough to actually design anything but I've come up with this uber cool name for the label and a really good advertising slogan for it. May I also mention that I have no business sensibilitiy and that I will be claiming 70% of the profits?

I don't want to tell you what the name for the label will be because this is public utterance don't you know? Anybody sly enough to just click on my little golden asterisk next to my name could stumble across this really super-duper name and make millions - no - BILLIONS! They could be bigger than... say... Just Jeans. Or something. Where do people go to buy trendy clothes again?

Like all my crazy posts on this blog, there's a big lot of truth in this. Has anyone noticed that the only places specifically selling male clothing are either boutiques completely unsuitable for the non-business man (as Jacinta, Ellen and I found out when we went to Roger David to try and find a Harry Potter style tie. Hilarity ensured.) And half the time those places have branched out into women's clothing anyway. Where's the... um... Sport's Girl? of the male world? As you may be able to tell, I'm no fashion expert - I do a majority of my clothes shopping at Just Jeans, Jeans West and (even the unfashionable me is afraid to admit this) Target.

Well, I'm not a completely lost cause but I resent that all stores around the place have all the same clothes in them. When I want a red shirt I want a red shirt. Not a pink or salmon coloured shirt. Red. Damnit. For a long time there I bought no clothes at all because I was so disgusted in the sate of the clothes on offer. They were awful. I am liking the whole medieval heraldry thing that's going on now though. If I had money to burn I would actually consider buying some of that. But that's besides the point. I'm still yet to buy a proper red shirt this winter like I said I would. And so this idea was born.

The idea is that I could 'make' my own clothes. You know, buy crappy nondescript shirts and screen-print slogans on them. And then there was this particular slogan that I came up with when I was writing random things on the mist that forms on the windows of the inside of the car that was just awesome and would work really well with this other thing I had written in my journal to describe the way I was feeling at the time. If I took a leaf out of this girl's book and printed this onto a shirt and sold it on ebay, would I make any money from it? I'm kinda desperate for cash to finance some things I'm planning to do. There's this niche in the market you see and I think that somebody should exploit it.

Wow, if I was actually properly serious about this I could stand to make alot of money if I knew what I was doing. Of course, this idea of mine is rediculous and I'll know so when I wake up tomorow and re-read this. I mean, a fashion label, named some crazy thing that I wrote in my diary? Started by Rohan. No. He just doensn't do such things. Instead he writes in his blog about how he can't buy what he wants but won't do anything about it. Can you see the way my rational mind is battling my tired impulsive mind here? When I'm tired this happens more obviously but basicly I live like this all the time. You didn't know that did you? Call it split personality but that's what happens.

This blog should have ended a good four paragraphs ago so I'm just gonna shut up now.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2006-07-28T14:52:57Z</dcterms:modified>

The Fashion Rule

After Peri's comments about pants being the fabric of our society I thought it would be appropriate to make my fashion habits public.

I have the rule you see that stops me from buying the same sorts of clothes. (ie: black, white, brown and blue ones). It is that once every 'season' (roughly equivalent to 'summer' and 'winter') I allocate a colour of clothes I will buy. Summer this year it was green. I had a marginally successful green summer because green wasn't in so I only found one shirt. I did find a really nice T-shirt though that matches perfectly with my green Connies.

Anyway, this 'season' it's red, or more precicely, dark red. So I'm having a 'red winter' which may or may not be what people called it when the Communists beat the Germans or the French or somesuch using their weather as a weapon... Hendi? Can you help me please?

But anyway that's besides the point. I managed to russle up a redish shirt for $9.95 the other day a Just Jeans. I had my eye on this shirt but it was $29.95 when it first came out and that's too much for me. But apparantly nobody likes the shirt because they reduced it first to $19.95 and then to $9.95. I'm glad I didn't see it when it was $19.95 because I probably would have bought it then thinking I got a bargain and then the next week it would have been $9.95 and I would have been SPEWING! So the shirt is a 'port wine' colour according to my mother which is like a maroon so deep it's almost purple. It goes great with a button up that my sister sent me for my b-day though so I'll use my old trick of T-shirt first then unbuttoned button up second like a sort of a jacket thing. I'm very pleased with my purchases which is great considering I don't buy clothes very often.

But when it comes to pants I'm afraid I'm a denim man. In fact I try to wear denim all the time if I can help it and I don't know why. I just love denim. I want a pair of denim Connies, do they even exist? I think they do. I think I saw them in the States but they were something like US$90 so my green ones for US$20 seemed like a much better deal. Oh well. Do you think my whole obsession with Converse Allstars is wrong? I only want 4 pairs: Black, Green, classic Red and Denim is that so wrong?!?!? I know other people who own alot more pairs than that now. Go and burn them! Leave me alone!

Waa.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2006-08-03T13:04:11Z</dcterms:modified>

It's just a theory

Ok, I have this theory. Now, it's only a theory but both Jacinta and I came up with it quite independantly of one another so I figure that there's some form of abstract truth in it.

The theory is as follows: although I hate emo culture (not the emo's themselves but I find what they do very tiresome) I am, in fact, an emo. How does this work you may ask? Emos, by definition, are self-haters, world-haters and/or (in extreme cases) self mutilators. My distaste for emo culture stems from this self-hatred. Presumably, I hate what I am and, therefore, I went into a system of denial whereby I never saw that I was actually an emo.

But this theory is lacking a critical element. How did I enter this cycle of being an emo but never realising in the first place? What if I'm actually what I appear to be, that is, a normal person who doesn't like emo culture? What actually marks me as an emo who hates emo stuff rather than a normal person who hates emo stuff?

The answer is this. Although I hate looking emo, ie: wearing all dark colours etc, I am occasionally (very occasionally) given to dressing this way without realising it until I've actually gone out in public and it's too late. This is when it hit Jacinta that I had emo tendancies. I went to the movies in my favourite pair of jeans, very dark denim, my favourite pair of shoes, black Converse Allstars and one of my favourite shirts, my PlanetShakers '06 shirt... which is black.

I ask myself, "what was I thinking?" (I answer in response, 'blending into the darkness'... sure...)

Still, I don't actually act like an emo do I? I don't actually think I'm an emo. I'm too cheery for that and I don't hate the world.

Also I can't stand Simple Plan or any of thier songs. What a depressing load of rubbish. Apologies to anyone who's madly in love with Simple Plan but I honestly don't get it.

So. Who actually thinks I'm an emo? Haha. Even if you do you probably won't find me dying my hair black any time soon. Or listnening to Simple Plan. You might catch me listening to Green Day but that's for a different reason altogether. Oh, and I'm keeping my black Converse shoes too. I'm not giving those up.

Fillet

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2006-08-06T12:40:22Z</dcterms:modified>
